The Library

At the Lodge we multiply the opportunities to encounter Africa.
The library can offer you a selection of African literature: African writers, explorers’ stories, cultural studies ……
And also novels, detective stories, strip cartoons and children’s books.

The Restaurant

“…… and we also eat well” as our guests tell us.
So how, lost in the bush, do we offer top quality cuisine?
Well, simply by creativity……..

We associate fresh basic products with local flavours: Bissap, the flower of Africa, the baobab fruit known as “monkey bread” or tamarind fruit. The sheer choice of the day’s fishing catch means we can offer fresh fish to taste marinated and accompanied by a cucumber and tomato sorbet, or simply grilled with a sauce of creative flavours. You’ll also love the village duck simmered with cashew fruit honey or zebu in a spicy marinade. To end this taste experience, let yourself be tempted by a ginger sorbet or the more classical grapefruit or lime sorbet.

“Andiparena” ….. bon appétit …..

The Pool

It’s up to you : cool down in the swimming pool while tasting one of our cocktails or watching over your children, or, if you prefer to swim there’s the lagoon – a natural and beautiful spot. For those of you with more energy, a dip in the ocean is a half-hour walk away.

Le site in the middle of nature

At the Lodge, discover vast scenery as only Africa can offer ……..

Look out over 360° of unspoilt nature from the top of “shell hill”: savannah, the blue strip of sea with the silhouette of baobabs and palm trees, lagoons, stretches of sand of changing colours, small islands dotted around giving depth to the scene …….

….. and birds in profusion. Their song a reminder that we’re in their world, pure and natural.

The night is disturbed from its deep silence from time to time by the jackals’ bark or the cry of hyenas passing by not so far away.

The atmosphere is imposed on us and we slip into this place, moulded into it discreetly, without disturbing it, feeling an immense respect for the forces residing there watching over us.
